Summary
Reaching guideline-recommended low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol targets is paramount for cardiovascular prevention due to the central role of LDL-cholesterol in the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). 1 These guideline-recommended LDL-cholesterol targets are based on extensive clinical evidence linking LDL-cholesterol levels to cardiovascular risk.Achieving these targets significantly reduces the risk of ASCVD events and is the cornerstone of preventive cardiology.
