Özet

The study aims to investigate the possibilities of yarn production for high added value textile

materials, not only for twine and rope. The native hemp from Gümüşhacıköy was retted in the

scope of the study. In Bornova, the green stems were submerged in fresh water for 15 days.

Retting occurred in March of 2022. After retting, the spinnability of the fiber was evaluated. In

the spinning processes, the retted fibers are blended with cotton. The study is still ongoing and

pectinolytic microorganisms are isolated from the retting water. However, only the results

obtained from conventional retting will be presented in this presentation.
