Özet

Due to the inability to use facebows digitally to transfer lateral movements of the patient to the dental CAD software, the aim is to digitally transfer lateral movements with a smartphone camera. Fifteen individuals (aged 20-25, 11 males-4 females) were included. Intraoral scans of the upper and lower jaws were obtained using an intraoral scanner (iTero Element 5D, Align Technologies, San Jose, California, USA). Interocclusal records between jaws were recorded in three different positions of the lower jaw: 4 mm right and left lateral excursion and maximum intercuspation. Lip-cheek retractors were placed on the same individuals, and their lower jaw movements from maximum right to left lateral excursion were recorded using a smartphone camera (iPhone 13, Apple Inc., CA, USA). The video recordings and models were aligned in 3D modeling software (Blender, Blender Foundation, Amsterdam, Netherlands). A motion capture plugin (Geotracker, KeenTools, Yerevan, Armenia) was used to match the mandibular model to the motion path obtained from the video. Keyframes corresponding to the static points on the lower jaw models in right and left lateral excursions were selected from the video recording. The x, y, and z coordinates of points on teeth numbered 46, 43, 36, and 33 in both jaws were recorded, and statistical analysis was performed (SPSS Inc., Chicago, USA). Statistical analysis revealed a highly significantly (p<0.001) positive correlation (ICC values > 0.9) between intraoral scanner and smartphone camera positioned models. Simultaneous lateral movements of the lower jaw can be transferred to software using a smartphone video camera.
