Summary
<p>The water that is used in the production process of a commodity is called<br /> “virtual water”. When the country exports a water-intensive product to<br /> another country, it exports water in virtual form. In this way some countries<br /> support other countries in their water needs. Consequently, international trade<br /> of products brings along international flows of virtual water. The objective of<br /> this paper is to investigate the volumes of virtual water flows between nations<br /> related to international trade of agricultural products and to analyse the effects<br /> of virtual water flows on water management in relation to virtual water<br /> balance.</p>
