Summary
<p>Sports literacy is an interdisciplinary concept that enables individuals and societies to consciously acquire, interpret, and utilize information related to sports. Parallel to the globalization process, the increasing emphasis on public health and the widespread adoption of digitalization have transformed sports from merely a physical activity into an integral component of media, economy, and education. These developments have positioned sports literacy as a critical factor directly influencing sports participation and the consumption of sports services. Sports literacy encompasses various elements, including the transmission and sharing of sports knowledge, awareness of sports rules and ethical values, and the ability to accurately assess and interpret the impact of sports and sports culture. Through sports literacy, awareness is raised regarding healthy living, physical education, and sports; the practice, understanding, and application of sports on a scientific basis are encouraged; and the critical evaluation of media content related to sports fosters a more conscious consumption of sports-related information. This study aims to provide new perspectives on sports and communication by examining sports literacy from a conceptual standpoint. The study explores the definition of sports literacy, its fundamental components, benefits, and relationship with other types of literacy. The significance of sports in social life and its connection with communication serves as the foundation of this study. Ultimately, this research seeks to establish a conceptual framework for sports literacy and contribute to the academic literature.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Sports, literacy, sports communication, physical literacy, sports literacy.</p>
