Özet

This study presents a thermodynamic assessment of a novel auto-cascade Rankine (NACR) cycle incorporating a regenerator, high- and low-temperature recuperators for low-grade heat recovery. The effects of the mixture composition and separator vapor quality are investigated for four binary zeotropic mixtures under the same operating conditions. The total heat input rate, net power output, thermal efficiency, total exergy destruction rate, and exergy efficiency are evaluated over the investigated ranges of mixture composition and separator vapor quality. The results show that both parameters have a significant effect on the thermodynamic performance of the NACR cycle, and the operating conditions corresponding to the maximum net power, maximum thermal efficiency, minimum exergy destruction, and maximum exergy efficiency are generally different. The maximum net power output reaches 76.4 kW for isobutane/isopentane, while the highest thermal efficiency is 18.19% for R152a/n-hexane. The minimum total exergy destruction is 16.6 kW for R227ea/n-hexane, whereas the highest exergy efficiency is 67.65% for isobutane/isopentane.
