Summary

Due to its biodegradable and easily machinable nature, PLA is frequently preferred in Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) processes. However, the surface quality and geometric accuracy of the printed parts often necessitate post-processing operations. In this study, the effects of layer thickness, cutting speed, and feed rate on hole diameter, cylindricity, delamination, and surface roughness were investigated. The findings indicate that cutting speed significantly affects hole dimensional accuracy, feed rate predominantly influences cylindricity, and both parameters play a key role in delamination. To balance surface quality and dimensional consistency, a combination of low layer thickness, high cutting speed, and moderate feed rate is recommended.
