Identification of High Nicotine Oriental Tobacco Lines

Özet
Agriculture is one of the most important economic factors in the development of global states, in the organization of the social structure. Tobacco, an agricultural product with a pleasure-giving substance and an important historical background, is produced and used by different cultures. This study was carried out in 2021 in the Research and Development land of Alliance One Tobacco in Halitli village of Sehzadeler district of Manisa province. In our research, potential 10 lines and, Birlik 124 standard variety as used control cultivar. In the study which was carried out within three replication according to the random blocks trial design and determining of the new potential lines characters such as yield (kg/da), expertise quality (efficiency), blooming time (days), plant size (cm), number of leaves (quantity/plant), leaf width (cm) and leaf size (cm) also besides of these, total alkaloid (nicotine) (%), total reducing sugar (%) and crude ash (%) contents were compared with the control variety Birlik 124. According to the results of the research, the results obtained in terms of yield showed that the average dry leaf yield was 139.3 kg/da and some lines used in the research gave better results compared to the control variety. Lines of 23 and 28 were found to be better expertise quality than other lines and control varieties, and difference is based on the genotype. In addition, it is seen that the nicotine ratio is in the range of 1.13–1.55 % and it gives results close to the upper limit determined in previous studies for Aegean Region tobaccos. In terms of total reducing sugar from the chemical analysis values were found to be compatible with the results between 12.05–14.70% and the limit values accepted for Aegean Region tobacco. Considering the sustainability of oriental tobacco in our country's agriculture and economy, new demands of industry and the requirements of new varieties for tobacco industry, it has been determined statistically that promising lines will be obtained in this thesis.
