Özet
Health communication is a field of study that has recently attracted attention. When the studies on this subject are examined, it is seen that the examination of the use of multimedia technology, which is a combination of elements such as video, audio, text, graphics and interaction, in the field of surgery from the perspective of health communication has been neglected. Based on the phenomenon of sharing health information with individuals, groups and society, which is one of the definitions of health communication, it was aimed to keep a projection on the situation especially among surgeons, who are characterized as health professionals. Doctors working in surgical branches in the field of medicine also use multimedia components intensively for different purposes such as education, information and promotion, and produce content for different target audiences such as colleagues, students and patients. In this context, how and why surgeons use multimedia technologies, their views on emerging audio and video technologies, the problems they face, their suggestions for solutions, and their predictions about how surgery and multimedia technologies will develop together in the future are gaining importance. In this study, interviews were conducted with a sample of surgeon faculty members from Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Departments of Surgical Sciences, who have participated in live surgical broadcasts and produced educational videos, interactive CD/DVD and podcast content in the field of medicine and surgery. In the study designed as an open-ended questionnaire interview, 30 questions were asked to the participants. With the prepared standard question set, it was aimed to analyze the surgeons' experiences, attitudes, thoughts, intentions, comments, mental perceptions and reactions regarding the use of multimedia and multimedia components such as video, audio, graphics, text and interaction elements.
