Özet

Ocimum basilicum (basil)-functionalized ZnO nanoparticles (OcB@ZnO) were prepared through an economical, eco-friendly green approach, with basil extracts serving as reducing and stabilizing agents. Characterization via UV-Vis spectroscopy (peak at 307 nm, band gap similar to 3.3 eV), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrated uniform spherical shapes, a hexagonal wurtzite phase, and average crystallite size of 31 nm. The basil-derived components improved surface functionality, fostering redox-active centers. For electroanalytical assessment as supercapacitor electrodes, the material's performance was evaluated through cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 1 M H2SO4, Na2SO4, and KOH solutions. From CV at 10 mV/s, specific capacitances reached 81.12 F g(-1) in H2SO4, 52.24 F g(-1) in Na2SO4, and 21.61 F g(-1) in KOH. GCD measurements at 0.02 A g(-1) yielded higher values: 203.04 F g(-1) (H2SO4), 84.25 F g(-1) (Na2SO4), and 41.36 F g(-1) (KOH), linked to pseudocapacitive effects from H+ engagement with bio-modified surfaces. In H2SO4, rate performance showed capacitances from 203.04 to 90.51 F g(-1) across 0.02-0.1 A g(-1). EIS revealed low equivalent series resistance (10.74 Omega) and charge transfer resistance (72.46 Omega) in H2SO4. Capacitance retention stood at 89.28% after 5000 cycles at 0.1 A g(-1), with energy and power densities of 2.49 Wh kg(-1) and 205.73 W kg(-1). These outcomes underscore OcB@ZnO's viability as a sustainable electrode material, surpassing unmodified ZnO in reported electroanalytical studies owing to biological enhancements.
