This work presents a fully analytic and collapse-free explanation for the suppression of interference in the double-slit experiment under measurement. The core idea is a simple probability-conservation rule in which the total amplitude of the system is redistributed between a coherent matter mode and a radiative (detector) mode. This mechanism, referred to as mode-fission, yields a direct scaling relation for the interference term,Iint(t) = pm(t) · Iint(0),showing that visibility decreases in proportion to the remaining coherent fraction of the matter mode. The derivation requires no wave-function collapse, no environment-induced decoherence, and no non-unitary dynamics. It provides a deterministic, physically transparent alternative to traditional interpretations of quantum measurement, and generalizes naturally to Mach–Zehnder interferometers, cavity-QED photon counting, Ramsey fringes, and qubit readout.
