Summary
The problem of the weft yarn acquiring crimp during the process of weaving is simulated by the deformation of an elastic rod of known length, fixed at both ends and loaded by a point force in the middle. Two analyses, one based on large deformations, the other on an approximate linear theory, which take into account both bending and longitudinal extension, are carried out and tested experimentally on a physical-simulation model. It is also shown that both theories can be applied to real yarns.
