Özet
The proceedings of a series of international conferences and their role in developing key areas of understanding and reporting the deleterious reaction between Portland cements and certain types of aggregate in concrete are discussed. Developments in the diagnosis and testing for potential reactivity are outlined. The role of these conferences in developing and reporting on international research into mechanisms, the systems of specification for avoiding reaction and the methods employed to renovate or repair concrete structures are also summarised. Specific new developments in understanding are identified in the conference proceedings. They have provided a major forum for reporting case histories from countries worldwide, the identification and diagnosis of reactions, and the results of remediation and repair of the structures involved; some of these case histories are outlined.
