Özet
<p>Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar, which has great historical, social, cultural, touristic and commercial importance for the city of İzmir and is symbolic for the city, is an important public attraction center that serves both the citizens and the visitors recreationally with its versatile uses and opportunities. In this context, the aim of the study is to reveal the performance of the Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar, which is one of the important public open spaces of the city of İzmir, as a daily recreation space. For this purpose, the study method was designed in four main stages; literature research, data collection, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and recommendations. Within the scope of the research, data collection studies were carried out in two stages as user questionnaire and field observation studies. In the questionnaire, the general user profile of the research area, the frequency of visits by the citizens, the transportation types used to access the place, the reasons why the place is preferred as a daily recreation space and the recreational activities carried out were questioned. In the field observation, access and transportation opportunities, natural and cultural resource values, prominent sub-spaces, active and passive recreational opportunities of the Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar were examined. Based on the analysis of the data obtained from the questionnaire and observation studies, the prominent positive and negative features of the Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar were evaluated together and suggestions were made to improve the performance of the area as a daily recreation space.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Daily recreation, Recreational activities, Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar, Konak, İzmir.</p>
