Summary
Organ-on-a-chip platforms have been developed to model different pathologies by recapitulating the unique microenvironments of respective diseases, for investigating the cause and development of abnormal conditions as well as the structural and functional changes resulting from such pathologies. In article number 1800109, Yu Shrike Zhang and co-workers describe these platforms, which also allow for the screening of more effective and less toxic therapeutics that are otherwise difficult to study with conventional model systems.
