Özet
In this research, it was aimed that the examination of catch composition in Izmir Bay and fishing effects of beam trawl which is found the group of seine nets and designation of the effect this gear in the fishing environment. 14 successful fishing operations were carried out around Gulbahce the middle of Izmir Bay. At the end of fishing operations 2 species were caught. Sole (Solea vulgaris Qensel, 1806),) and shrimp (Penaus kerathurus Forskall, 1775) which have economical value were examined. It was determined that length distributions of sole were 9-29 cm and high ratios of catching were 12-22 cm length group. It was determined that length distributions of shrimps were 12-22.5 cm and average length was found 16.2 cm. According to underwater observation, the bottom structure of beam trawl which is carried out in muddy areas and the destructive damage to benthic fauna weren't observed but beam trawl could give damage to small scale fishing gear in the same area.
