Prolonged legal proceedings causes individuals to lose confidence in the legal system and the justice mechanism. Amendments regarding the durations and deadlines in legislation have a direct effect on both the evaluation and the reporting procedures of legal expertise. Failure to keep track of these changes may cause loss of a right, tardiness in judicial processes and may result in criminal and civil liability of the experts. Therefore, for a well-functioning judicial process, it is of vital importance for individuals, institutions and organizations in charge of expert witness services to stay up-to-date with legislations. In this review, notion of 'durations and deadlines' will be separately examined in terms of evaluation and reporting within the scope of criminal and civil procedures.
