Özet

The aim of this article is to compare migration as an interculturalconfrontation and translation as a phenomenon creating a “Third Space” forcultural negotiation. In this frame it analyses what role interculturalityplays in both areas and how these areas mutually reshape the other. The study deals with how the deconstructive approachesthat have triggered a new understanding in the field influence translation. Inthis context, the concept of interculturality brought both by translation andmigration, should not be considered as a medium for harmonization andassimilation, but as a means of respect to the foreign that challenges theasymmetries and dominance between the powers. In this sense, the study will demonstratehow intercultural migration and translation enabling constructive andproductive interaction can function as a dynamic potential for cultures. Since translation and migration are two majorrestorative factors for intercultural communication, they create the mobilityof people so of cultures which results in a reframing of the obsoletetraditional perception of culture that relies on an isolated and homogenousculture model. This communication enables not only a new understanding of theother and a convergence of the cultures involved, but it also promotes arealisation of the self and its borders.
